Cynthia Allen Engels went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 6, 2022, in Marietta, Georgia. 

Cynthia was born in Tarrytown, New York, on June 3, 1952, to L. Duncan Allen, Jr. and Nancy Bristol Allen.

 At an early age her family moved to LaGrange, Georgia. After high school she attended Young Harris College and Troup County Technical School. She excelled in typing and administration. 

Cynthia then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she went to work for Trust Company Bank, later SunTrust Bank. Her career there lasted over thirty years, working in various departments.

On Oct. 7, 1978, Cynthia married Larry B. Engels of Atlanta, formerly of Nashville, Tennessee. They were blessed with a son, Bret Allen Engels, in 1989.

Cynthia had many interests, but her family and church were her most important. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church, both of Marietta. She participated regularly with both churches. Her favorite religious topic was Revelation and Prophecy. 

Cynthia loved all animals and enjoyed her beloved Shih Tzus and her cats. 

She especially enjoyed her times in Florida, walking on the beach and watching hummingbirds.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Larry B. Engels; a son, Bret A. Engels of Novi, Michigan; brothers Duncan B. Allen (Dale) of LaGrange, and Peter B. Allen (Andrea) of Marietta; sister Phoebe Allen of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; nieces Elise Mecredy and Virginia Allen; and a great niece and nephew.

A private family interment service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in LaGrange, Georgia.
