Phillip Miles was born June 26, 1982, in LaGrange, Georgia, to Fred Miles and the late Linda Golden.
After 5 years of fighting illness, he went to his heavenly home on Dec. 6, 2022.
He played football, basketball, and ran track while attending LaGrange High School.
After graduating in 2000, he attended the University of Georgia. While attending UGA, Phillip became a believer in Christ through the ministry of UGA’s Baptist Student Union.
He served at UGA’s Baptist Student Union and his local church until graduating in 2005.
After graduating, Phillip spent 6 years teaching and coaching in Georgia before moving to Florida.
Upon moving to Florida, he taught students with disabilities at Roosevelt Academy in Lake Wales.
This was the most meaningful teaching position of his career. He also led the school’s FCA program for 8 years before his retirement.
In 2018, Phillip was ordained as a ruling elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida.
His greatest joy was telling others about Jesus, whether it was at church, school, or to a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Rebekah and their daughter, Caroline, his greatest earthly treasure.
He is also survived by his father, Fred (Vickie) Miles, mother-in-law, Connie Petrolle, step-father, Mike Golden, brother, Sean (Kara) Miles, step-brothers, Allen Golden (Melinda) and Phillip Hovey, brother- in-law, Jospeh (Dawn) Petrolle, sisters-in-law, Victoria (Brian) Lee, Susanna (Charles) McCorkle, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, beloved friends, and his faithful pup Lucy.
Known fondly as Uncle Phillip, he was able to make many memories with his nephews, Gavin Miles and Joshua Lee.
He is survived by two additional nephews, four nieces and three great-nieces.
Phillip endured his illness until the very end with faith, dignity, strength and grace.
His ultimate desire was to finish his race well. Matthew 25:21.
A memorial service will be held Sat. Dec. 10th at 10:30 A.M. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL.
