Christopher Jake Morrow, age 31, passed from this life to eternal life with Christ on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 after a long struggle with metastic melanoma. He was the son of Landon and Janice Pratt Morrow. Until forced to resign due to his health, Jake worked at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri as Assistant Director of the Department of Institutional Research. Previously he had worked as a research analyst at University of Tennessee/Knoxville and at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. He was a member of the Association for Institutional Research and the Southeast Association for Institutional Research. Jake was a graduate of Columbus State University, earning his B.S. in Business Administration in 2007 and his MBA in 2009. He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square. He enjoyed golf and online video gaming. A LaGrange native, he graduated from Oakside Christian School where he served as class valedictorian and yearbook editor and played on the basketball and baseball teams. During high school and college years, he worked part-time at Publix Supermarket in LaGrange and Columbus.

 

Jake is survived by his parents, Landon and Janice Morrow; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Mark Hudson; niece, Chelsea Hudson; aunt and uncle, Glenda and Tyrone Smallwood; aunts, Gaynelle Lynn and Mae Baker and a number of cousins.

 

The gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening, February 10, 2017 from 5:30 until 7:30 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church on the Square on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Cade Farris and Dr. Joel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
