Mr. Wilbert Bernard “Will” Oubre, 95, of LaGrange, passed away on Jan. 25, 2021.

Mr. Oubre was born on Oct. 11, 1925 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Wilbert B. and Georgette Elizabeth Wood Oubre. Upon high school graduation, he joined the United States Navy Air Corps at the age of seventeen as an Aviation Machinist. He was promoted to Plane Captain at the age of eighteen and flew the B-24 Liberator, a part of the Photo Reconnaissance Squadron in the Pacific Theater in and around Okinawa, Japan. Following his faithful service to his country during World War II, he worked for many years as a Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service. However, the greatest joy of his working career was working on his family farm.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Josephine Daniel Oubre; children, Bubba Oubre (Becky), Cynthia Eymard (Gary), Janice Oubre Cowman, Frances Oubre and Melissa Landers; grandchildren, Gary Eymard, Jr. (Nikki), Lisa Eymard, Christopher Eymard (Sara), Thomas Tabor (Rebecca), Will Binion (Mary), Austin Starr (Nikki), Matthew Oubre (Jamie), Daniel Binion, Rachel Binion, Sidney Stroud and Charlie Oubre (Caroline); twenty two great grandchildren; extended family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Rosemont Baptist Church with Pastor Adam Camp and Rev. Max McCord officiating. Interment will follow the service at Meadoway Gardens, the land of which was once a part of Mr. Oubre’s farm. Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday for a time of visitation beginning at 12 p.m. until service hour.
