Woman says vehicle stolen as her children got ready for school

A woman’s Hyundai Elantra was allegedly stolen from the Quality Inn parking lot on Jameson Drive Wednesday morning.

The woman told police she was getting her kids ready for school at 7:30 a.m. so she left her car running in the parking lot. When she went outside to check on her car, it was missing.

She said she did not owe any money on the vehicle, and it is valued at $12,000.

Over $11,000 worth of jewelry taken from house

Over $11,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a woman’s safe during a house burglary at the 200 block of Old Pond Road Wednesday between 10:30 a.m. and 3:50 p.m.

The woman told police a person busted her back window to enter the house and that her room was ransacked and her personal safe was entered.  Items taken included a men’s Rolex watch with a blue face valued at $3800, a woman’s Rolex watch with a blue face valued at $5,300, a diamond ring valued at $800, a plain gold ring valued at $300 and a white gold necklace valued at $1,500, for a total of $11,700.

According to the police report, an officer saw the back-bathroom window broken out and a rug draped over the window seal.

Driver allegedly flees scene of incident

A driver involved in an accident Wednesday at the intersection of Lafayette Parkway and South Davis Road allegedly fled the scene.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. The driver of the vehicle hit told police he was stopped at a traffic light on Lafayette Parkway when an unknown woman driving a gray Toyota Camry struck his bumper and knocked his car into the intersection of the roadway.

The driver told police the woman got out of her vehicle and blamed him for the collision, got back in her car and drove to the Circle K parking lot before leaving the scene on South Davis Road ten minutes after the accident.
