Gun found at Ringer Park Sunday afternoon

A Highpoint Luger 9mm was found at the bank of Ringer Park Sunday afternoon. According to the police report, a man found it while he was fishing. Police ran its serial number, but no results came back.

Unleashed dog bites child

A juvenile was bitten on the hand and arm by an unknown black dog with a collar at the 500 block of South Greenwood Street around 9 p.m. According to the police report, the juvenile’s father said they were at the Hot Spot store when his son saw the dog and attempted to pet it. The dog bit him twice. They child’s wound was cleaned and dressed and did not require stitches.

Walmart allegedly shoplifted from twice on Saturday

A man and a woman were cited after attempting to steal more than $300 worth of adult and children’s clothing from the Walmart on New Franklin Road Saturday. According to the police report, the two were filling a shopping cart with clothing when they tried to leave the store without paying.

They were stopped by the loss prevention officer and left the scene without any of their items. According to the report, officers stopped them at the Waffle House on New Franklin Road and took them into custody.

A man shoplifted over $114 worth of steak, crab legs, shrimp and a can of beer from the store Saturday around 4 a.m. According to the police report, the man took two steaks, the crab legs, the bag of shrimp and a can of Budweiser and then went to the grocery aisle of the store. He then put all the items in a small duffle bag and left the store.

According to the store’s loss prevention officer, he was picked up by a silver car and was previously banned from the store for shoplifting.
