Man arrested after attempting to flee

Aundre Fields was arrested by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office after attempting to flee from an officer on Interstate 85 Wednesday night, according to a press release from the TCSO.
The press release said an officer tried stopping Fields’ Dodge Grand Caravan for failing to maintain his lane on the interstate near mile marker 12 southbound. Fields tried fleeing and officers stopped his pursuit with a tire deflation device. When Fields’ car came to a stop at mile marker six, he tried to flee on foot, but was soon capture, according to the news release.
While searching Fields’ vehicle, officers found approximately two pounds of marijuana, a stolen handgun and a bottle of Promethazine with Codeine in it. Fields was then arrested and charged with failure to maintain lane, fleeing — attempting to elude, driving while license is suspended, violating Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act for possession of marijuana more than an ounce, violating Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act for possession of a Schedule V narcotic, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving, theft by bringing stolen property into the state, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies and obstruction.
Woman arrested for allegedly stealing 21 items from WalMart
Heather Cogan, 35, was arrested for allegedly stealing $123 worth of items from the Walmart on New Franklin Road Wednesday afternoon. According to the LaGrange Police Department report, the store’s loss prevention officer said Cogan concealed several items in her purse. She purchased groceries, but not the items in her purse. When she left the store, she was stopped and admitted to concealing 21 items in her purse, according to the press release. Cogan was given a criminal trespass warning and banned from Walmart.
