Two minors were arrested with multiple charges, including reckless driving and eluding officers Wednesday morning.

According to the police report, an officer was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Lafayette Parkway and South Davis Road when a vehicle without any headlights pulled up next to him in the left turn lane. After the light turned green, the officer tried to follow the vehicle, which allegedly kept swerving over the yellow line and started to accelerate. According to the police report, the officer then turned on his blue lights and the car continued to speed.

After approaching the intersection of South Davis Road and Colquitt Street, the vehicle made an abrupt right, lost control and ran over a curb and onto the grass in front of a business.

The vehicle stopped after hitting a tree and the two minors tried to flee on foot.

According to the police report, the minors ran into the woods nearby and the officer and a deputy from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office soon stopped and arrested them.

While securing the minors in the back of the police car, they were notified that two loaded firearms were in the vehicle.

One of the minors said he did not know about the firearms in the vehicle, and the other said they did not belong to him. Both were charged with fleeing/attempting to elude an officer, failure to maintain lane, headlights and reckless driving.
