The LaGrange Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying an armed robbery suspect. According to a LPD press release, the unknown suspect entered the Dollar General on Colquitt Street Wednesday night, brandished a small handgun and demanded money from the store.
According to the press release, the suspect took an unknown amount of money.
The suspect is believed to have been involved in a string of other armed robberies in Alexander City and Eufaula, Alabama, according to LPD Sgt. Robert Kirby. In those two cases, the suspect was caught on camera at separate Autozones, with the same appearance from the armed robbery Wednesday.
“One of those agencies in Alabama contacted [us] and said that they believe that they had some similarities with our robbery,” Kirby said. “There were some other robberies where we do not have photos from various places in Alabama, and I think one was in Columbus, but they’re so similar we were thinking it’s probably the same guy.”
A Dollar General employee told police that the suspect was African-American, tall, thin and had long hair. Kirby described the suspect as 6-feet-one inch and in his mid 20s.
“We’re just hoping somebody out there can see the guy and help us figure out who he is,” Kirby said.
The LPD has photos of the suspect from the three robberies on its Facebook page. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the LPD at (706) 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers (706) 812-1000.
