City of LaGrange to apply to $2 million grant
The City of LaGrange is applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a grant up to $2,000,000 for community development.
According to a press release from the city, these funds will be used to primarily benefit low-and-moderate-income members of the community.
The funds, if acquired, can be used in multiple areas that would benefit housing, public facilities and economic development within the city.
According to the city, the public was given the opportunity to hear specific details on how the grant would effect the community regarding eligible activities and plans to assist displaced persons if it happens. The city also explained how the estimated amount of funds proposed would be used for activities to benefit low- and moderate-income persons and the rating system in a public hearing that took place on Aug. 14 at the LaGrange Housing Authority.
