The Troup County School System has republished the current 2022 property tax digest and 5-year-history of levy in today’s newspaper and must re-approve the same millage rate rollback its already passed due to a publishing error.
The property tax digest and 5-year-history was published in The LaGrange Daily News on Wednesday, June 15, as scheduled, with no errors.
However, per state law, this notice cannot publish in the newspaper’s legal section, which is where it was published June 15 with other scheduled legal notices.
TCSS has republished the notice in today’s newspaper, at no cost, and will meet Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. to re-approve the millage rate.
Superintendent Brian Shumate said TCSS is going to re-approve the millage rate of 17.35, which was TCSS’ first millage rate rollback since 2005. TCSS had voted the millage rate rollback through on July 7.
